Shot in Guatemala while participating in a week-long program studying post-conflict healing and indigenous rights. Spring 2016. 

The woman pictured is a member of Qachuu Aloom, an organization whose name translates to “Mother Earth” and works to empower other women and youth by promising food security and self-sufficiency. Qachuu Aloom has 150 member families who grow native plants, like amaranth pictured in this photo, to nourish themselves and gain a little extra income.
